Friends
Probably my first friend in this new life was Mija. She and her husband Paul were actually old friends, from a.s.s. days, and as s.s.s. moderators, they were the first to respond to the obituary I posted there a month after M died. So in a sense they were the first to bear witness to it all. Paul doesn’t blog much (or, as he put it, he does Slow Blogging), but they both tweet about every sort of thing. I also blame Mija for turning me to the dark side and making me tweet. In addition to her own website El Tercer Ojo, Mija also writes for The Punishment Book.
Another wonderful writer, and PB contributor, is Natty. I think our minds are twisted in many of the same ways.
Continuing along the PB list we find Sparkle, or Serenity as she is known now that she has grown up. She and her brilliant, devilish husband, Chris, are possibly the cutest couple on Twitter. Nothing cheers me up more than watching them tweet-flirt with each other from opposite sides of the house, or opposite sides of their in-laws’ couch.
Working our way east, we stop off in flyover country, where resides the infamous Indy, who has of late bowed to international pressures and begun her own blog. Indy is a keen thinker as well as a terrific stirrer, and her url ought be not-so-innocent-indy.wordpress.etc…
Here in Gotham I have been lucky to meet several talented bloggers, in person even. There is the impish, vivacious Marie, the beautiful Sandy (or Cassandra Park), and, always making us laugh with his acerbic wit, the indomitable Radagast.
And then we travel through airport security, submit to strip search, and board a transatlantic flight to the home of the English Vice, populated by a dizzying number of creative, intelligent tgi enthusiasts. Where to start with these people?
There are the superhumanly prolific and imaginative Spanking Writers, Abel and Haron. There is the knowledgeable and irrepressible Jessica. Adele Haze is a veritable institution. Pandora Blake seems to defy description, equal parts hot hot writer and model, smart cookie with a social conscience, and emerging film producer. You can always find an absorbing and thoroughly considered debate over on her blog, not to mention great original pictures.
Another person who both blogs and acts in tgi films is the charismatic Caroline Grey. As I wrote on her blog once, she was always destined to be a best friend, because she was someone I detested so much before knowing her. Caroline is as smart as they come. She writes incredible fiction (not always under her own name), has a huge loving heart, and to the delight of her fans is cute as a button.
Several of my favorite reads come from people who, like me, started blogging fairly recently and thus have a lot to say. Eliane can hardly be called new to spanking anymore, thus her blog has amended itself to New(ish) To Spanking. She and Emma Jane recently started up an Edwardian era tgi soap opera called Winterbrook (surely to some extent to soothe the mourning occasioned by the end of Lowewood Academy). Emma Jane also writes a skilled and honest blog of her own that I read regularly. Another “newish” writer is the very talented Graham Grey, whose fiction is the real deal, and who blogs from an undisclosed locale where they speak foreign tongues. Pity the schoolmaster who attempts to keep these girls in line.
And speaking of tops, not many male tops blog. Notable exceptions are the aforementioned Abel and the internationally acclaimed HH, who has recently begun to pen one of the more worthwhile perspectives on M/f topping. Master Retep writes another excellent top-perspective blog against the experience of having discovered, later in life, a DD dynamic with his beloved wife.
I read quite a few other blogs, though I haven’t yet developed friendships with the authors. Viola and Irelynn collaborate on one that frequently features Viola’s tasteful yet sexy photographs. Poppy’s blog makes me recognize a heart and a mind similar to my own. When I want a more raw sexy read, I check out Memoirs of a MILF. Hermione, a commentator here, has her own charming blog.
And then there are the flash fiction conspirators. Rafi (or NakedRafi as he is known on Twitter and frequently reported to be in real life) has been a stalwart friend as well as a loyal Flash Fiction Friday companion. Papa Tom was also a true brick as a writing companion, up for any challenge, even NaNoWriMo, which it turns out has catapulted him into the universe of publishing writer. (Kudos to Tom!) In addition to running flash fiction challenges myself, I sometimes joined in Ang’s Microfantasy Monday, where I encountered such hot writers as Thursday’s Child and Butchtastic Kyle. Some other delectable flash fiction writers who gamely joined in 3F or Midweek Missed Connections include Travis King, Nettagyrl (also a prolific NaNoWriMo
authoress), Naughty Abby, Dominoxx, Frenchies, S, Rayne, Vanimp, and Joe, not to mention many of the bloggers mentioned earlier who joined in at one point or another. It has been a privilege to write with all of these people.
There are many more blogs I know of but have not yet had time to read in detail (for example, Bonnie, who–among other things–so graciously introduces new blogs). There are other friends, good friends, with whom I chiefly correspond through Twitter but who do not maintain blogs of their own. Certainly there will have been people I left out here. This is an unavoidable pitfall. Please forgive me.
I will try to update this page from time to time. Happy reading!
